In the 1830 Ohio census he and his family are in Warren Twp., Belmont County.
In the 1840 Ohio census he is in Somerset Twp., Belmont County.
In the 1850 Ohio census he has moved his family to Jackson Twp., Guernsey County.
All of the children of both wives are still at home.
In the 1860 Ohio census we find Thomas and Eliza in Waterloo Twp., Athens County
with son *Thomas Jefferson Mercer, his wife *Amanda Melissa Stephen,
and son John, 4 months, living next door. Thomas is listed as being 60 years old and owning 1600 acres of land.
Also in Athens County, but in York Twp. are Joseph, his eldest son and his wife,
and Barton, Thomas' youngest half-brother with his wife Cynthia.

Thomas, son of Joseph and Nancy (Yonally) Mercer, and grandson of Joseph
Mercer and greatgrandson of Robert and Olive of Chester County, PA, was born
in Virginia in 1800, married Fannie Frye in 1825, and Eliza Frye in
Guernsey County, Ohio on June 10, 1838. Thomas died in Pike County,
Benton Township, Ohio on March 14, 1879. Eliza was born on March 3, 1811,
and died on May 3, 1879. They are buried in Gardries Cemetery. They
resided in Guernsey County, Jackson Township, Ohio in 1850.
