Early radiation of the Reptiles.

The ancestors of advanced reptiles, the captorhinids, appeared in the Carboniferous
and were widely distributed in the Early Permian.They are well known from the Early
Permian of North America whereas their Late Permian remains in East Europe are
relatively scarce. Descendants of the captorhinids can be divided into two principal
groups in accordance with the structure of the skull.
