All 900 genealogies viewed confused this gentleman with
*William d'Aubigny born about 1165 Arundel, Essex, England
died before 30 March 1221 Cainell By Rome, Latium, Italy
buried Priory, Wymondham, Norfolk, England
The problem is there are two bodies buried in two locations.
Almost all genealogies list
*William "Earl of Arundel" d'Aubigny
born about 1140 Buckenham, Norfolk, England
died 24 December 1193
buried Priory, Wymondham, Norfolk, England
as the father when it was likely that his brother Godfrey was the father.
This is tantalizingly alluded to in one genealogy which lists the mother as Godfrey??
These two Williams (1161 & 1165) are cousins.
