How the Windmill is installed at

The Windmill is located on the third floor
(with The Russian Dinosaur Exposition).
It is installed over a three-storey open space
on three thirty-inch "I-beams".

It is set up so that the auxillary shaft is connected to a
step-down gearbox and thence connected to a one-half horsepower
electric motor which thereby raises a 20,000 pound granite block.
Future plans call for the settling granite block to run a 120 foot
clock escapement from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
