*Samuel Pruitt
born about 1800 South Carolina

father:
probably
*Daniel, William or Samuel Pruitt all sons of *Thomas Pruitt, Jr.
or possibly the Thomas Pruitt mentioned in the 1830 census

mother:
unknown

siblings:
unknown

spouse (1st marriage):
*Stacy (Mary?) wife of Samuel Pruitt
born 1812 South Carolina
died after 1860 Missouri census
married about 1831 Cocke County, Tennessee

children:
*Andrew Jackson Pruitt
born 5 July 1834 Cocke County, Tennessee
died 4 February 1879 Mincy, Taney County, Missouri
buried Pruitt Cemetery, Mincy, Taney County, Missouri
(later moved to Casey-Yandall Cemetery, Kirbyville, Taney County, Missouri)
James Nathaniel Pruitt (may have been half-brother) born 1839 South Carolina

biographical and/or anecdotal:
This all becomes somewhat cloudy.
Latter Day Saints gives *Samuel as the spouse of *Stacy and both as the parents of *Andrew Jackson Pruitt.
Stacy is the apparent mother of *Andrew Jackson Pruitt in the 1850 Cocke County, Tennessee Census.
She traveled with him to Missouri and appears in his household in the 1860 Missouri Census.
From oral family history Nathaniel is given as the half-brother of Andrew.
From the 1850 census Samuel is listed as 30 years old with a wife Jinney age 34.
According to LDS (see below) there was a Samuel Pruitt born 1819 who married a Jancy born 1815 married 1852 and moved to Taney County.
These dates agree with the Census information below.
One possibility is that *Andrew Jackson Pruitt is the son of *Samuel Pruitt and Jancy (Jinney).
He could have been to sent to live with an aunt *Stacey sister of *Samuel.
All later came to Taney County, Missouri.
However we have no family history of Samuel Pruitt coming.
